Lauri graduated from Central Michigan University in 1983, with a degree in Clinical Psychology. She worked at a private clinic in Michigan for a few years before returning to Wisconsin, where Lauri had done her undergraduate work. She then worked at public and private mental health agencies in southeastern Wisconsin. Lauri has been in private practice for over 20 years.
